Powerline Technician Apprentice

Are you interested in an opportunity for a great career start and work in Newfoundland and Labrador? Working alongside our teams at Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, you will get hands on experience working in various locations at our many plants and facilities throughout the province. For the successful candidates, we will establish a plan which will consist of several, 14-month placements in our rural operating areas, which may include any of the following: Labrador, Northern Peninsula, Central Newfoundland, Bay d'Espoir, and others.

You have successfully completed high school and must be eligible to register as a Powerline Technician (Operating Apprentice) and have completed all requirements of a one-year Powerline Technician program (Block 1) from a recognized post-secondary institution or currently enrolled in a recognized Powerline Technician program and have an expected completion date by June 2026.

You have thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules and must possess an appropriate valid driver’s license. You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the company's Safety and Health Program. You will also be responsible for performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.­

You are responsive to feedback, welcome diversity and enjoy working with a dynamic team.­ Additionally, you are able to effectively communicate and work in a dynamic environment.

  • A copy of your transcript and certificate from your training institution with your application, unless still enrolled in a pre-employment program.
  • Confirmation of hours registered and year of apprenticeship (from Apprenticeship and Certification Division or a copy of signed hours from logbook), if applicable.
