Engineer, Electrical GTD

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide electrical and instrumentation Engineering support for Gas Turbine and Diesel (GT&D) Generation systems, ensuring optimal installation, operation, and maintenance while upholding strict Safety and Environmental standards.
• Lead electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting and diagnostic efforts during equipment failures to minimize downtime and restore reliability. Investigate failures and trips and prepare trip reports with recommendations as required.­ Provide technical support to GT&D Electricians and Instrumentation Technicians
• Ensure maintenance practices align with approved Engineering Directives and continuously monitor the effectiveness of electrical and instrumentation asset maintenance programs. Implement predictive maintenance where applicable, performance monitoring, specialized testing and analysis.
• Develop and implement proactive maintenance strategies for electrical, instrumentation and control systems to maximize performance and lifecycle.
• Investigate recurring operational and maintenance issues, identify root causes, and recommend and execute system modifications and upgrades.
• Conduct thorough engineering design reviews for proposed changes, additions, and enhancements to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Perform maintenance audits and provide objective evaluations of Health and Safety programs to drive continuous improvement.
• Aid in management of electrical and instrumentation spare and critical spare parts inventory and address obsolescence challenges to maintain system readiness and reliability.
• Manage the electrical and instrumentation assets in Gas Turbine and Diesel Facilities including identifying the need for new assets and preparing specifications as required, commissioning new equipment, managing the Preventative Maintenance Program for electrical and instrumentation assets.
• Act as the GT&D representative for all on-going and planned electrical capital work
• Mentor Engineers in Training and engineering work term students, as required

• Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with members of various teams;
• Excellent analytical skills and problem solving abilities.

What You’ll Need:
• Be a safety leader and promote safety culture within Hydro
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• minimum of five (5) years’ experience from graduation, with experience related to the type of work.
• Shall be registered with, or eligible to be registered with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientist (PEGNL).
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable Engineering codes and standards
• Must possess an appropriate valid driver license’s.
