Hydro Plant Operator

Location: Bay d’Espoir
General Duties:
You will operate the generating plant and perform regular inspections of all generation, transmission and distribution facilities and report deficiencies; you will prepare, check and carry out switching orders and observe indicating and recording instruments to ensure adequate flow of electric power to meet demand and to prevent overloading on generating and associated systems; you will periodically inspect support structures and associated equipment to detect deterioration or malfunction; you will participate as a member of the plant emergency organization and respond to all plant emergencies. You may be required to work at heights up to 10m. All other duties related to or associated with this classification.
You are responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the Corporation's Safety and Health Program. You are responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.
Required Qualifications:
You have graduated from high school supplemented with a journeyperson certificate as a Power System Operator through the Corporation’s Apprenticeship program. Shall have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules. Must possess an appropriate valid driver’s license.
