Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

In this role, you will be responsible for directing staff of the thermal generating station in the performance of their duties, evaluating resources requirements, developing acceptable directives and procedures, safety codes, supervising the organization and operation of adequate training and safety programs to ensure the development of a competent staff and operation of the station.­ You will provide leadership, direction, and support for all maintenance activities with an emphasis on safety, maintenance, operations, reliability, quality, cost and timely delivery.­ You will administer the Collective Agreement and ensure supervisory staff are fully informed and are following the terms of the agreement.­ You will organize plant outages to ensure maximum safety and optimum plant availability to staff and equipment and organize and maintain adequate records of plant and system operations as are required for maintenance, completed systems and operations studies and for government agencies.­ You will develop and updating operator procedures, emergency procedures and work methods.­ You will respond to emergency situations related to equipment outages and help coordinate and plan the process of restoring equipment to service safely and cost effectively.­ You will work with the Mangers of Work Execution and Safety, Health and Environment to develop safety initiatives and campaigns to aid in the engagement of safe work and best practices for responsible departments and ensure that the work protection code is kept up to date and that all employees are familiar with the code.
­
You have graduated from high school and hold an Inter-Provincial Journeyperson’s Certificate in the Industrial Mechanical field (e.g.: millwright, pipefitter). You have a minimum of five years experience as a Journeyperson in the Thermal Power Plant maintenance or related experience.­ You possess a good working knowledge of computers with appropriate awareness of various corporate applications as necessary, which may include, but are not limited to, the Microsoft suite of applications, JD Edwards and computerized inventory and maintenance programs.­
