Infrastructure Specialist – Operational Technology (OT)

Location: St. John’s

In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and monitoring of operating systems, applications, databases and network infrastructure utilized within Hydro. You will ensure a stable operating environment, attain maximum utilization of system facilities and ensure architectural integrity of the computer environment.
­
You will be responsible for the addition, modification, and removal of SCADA point information on the Energy Management System (EMS). You will be required to monitor the health of the EMS including verifying that all processes are executing correctly, failover to redundant systems is functioning as designed, and pro-actively taking necessary action to rectify any deficiencies identified. You will test and verify the existing Disaster Recovery Program coordinating with the Newfoundland and Labrador System Operator (NLSO).­ You will administer and manage the centralized database historian, ensuring points of information are archived and accessible for our customers.­ You will install new applications and updates to existing applications, coordinating with NLSO and other departments to configure and commission the application deployments.

Qualifications:
­

  • Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of experience and training considered;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience with computer server operating systems, database systems, network administration, application configuration, problem analysis, configuration of network protocols and hardware troubleshooting;
  • Experience with installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of Linux operating systems;
  • Knowledge of application protocols utilized in SCADA systems;
  • Experience with the configuration and maintenance of Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems;
  • Understanding of the basic function of devices used in the control of a power system;
  • Familiarity with the configuration and operation of Remote Terminal Units (RTU) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC);
  • Knowledge of the unique security requirements for protection of critical infrastructure
  • Must possess strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
