Financial Analyst

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly reports for review;
  • Provide assistance to business unit managers and employees in the preparation of their reports to support the reporting necessary for tax incentives;
  • Research and analysis of tax legislation;
  • Preparing appropriate Canada Revenue Agency submissions on a timely basis;
  • Preparation of working papers and audit requirements in support of reporting requirements and audit requirements;
  • Maintaining, monitoring and communicating reporting timelines and deliverables;
  • Prepare monthly reports on status of incentive programs and other reporting as required by executive;
  • Responsible for analyzing data provided and following up on missing or incomplete information with internal departments, as well as third party contractors;
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with specific tax legislation;
  • Responsible for communicating non-compliance or new legislation on a timely basis;
  • Participates in process improvement as required throughout the department;
  • Prepares user system procedures and documentation;
  • Provides data support for finance users as required;
  • Participates in the resolution of system related issues – verification/testing;
  • Extract and analyze data from JDE and Clarity to meet demands in response to requests for information for various initiatives and lines of business;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Capital & Tax.
What We’re Looking For:
­
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with members of various teams;
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving abilities.
What You’ll Need:
  • A university degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a professional accounting designation. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Completion of the CPA In-depth tax course and/or experience in taxation, including research and analysis of tax legislation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting processes;
  • Ability to identify issues, develop solutions and make recommendations to management;
  • Experience working with JD Edwards Enterprise One and Business Intelligence software systems would be beneficial;
  • Working knowledge of GAAP/IFRS;
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, budgeting and forecasting or reporting.
