Specialist – Work Execution

The Work Execution Specialist for Transmission Operations - Soldiers Pond will receive general direction from the Sr. Manager, HVDC Transmission, but is expected to exercise a high level of personal initiative and judgment in carrying out the ongoing activities of the work execution and operations departments.
­
In this role you will plan, coordinate and direct a variety of activities necessary for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and short-term planning of work. Ensure that all work activities of the Operations and Work Execution departments adhere to corporate safety policies & procedures, government regulations and industry best practices. Aid in the development of the organization’s safety culture by helping with the development of safety initiatives, procedures and campaigns to ensure engagement of employees at all levels.

Ensure that all work is performed with a strong focus on safety, environment, quality, cost, schedule, productivity, and efficiency. Report on work execution metrics on a number of frequencies, including daily reports, weekly updates, weekly S-curve reports, monthly updates and annual plans.­

Responsibilities:
­
  • Assists to direct the work execution group in the performance of their duties, evaluating resources requirements, developing acceptable directives and procedures, safety codes, supporting the organization and operation of adequate training and safety programs to ensure the development of a competent staff.
  • Coordinates with the Supervisor – Site Services and support of Soldiers Pond site service contract work.
  • Responds to emergency situations related to equipment outages and helps coordinate and plan the process of restoring equipment to service. Will participate as a member of Soldiers Pond Volunteer Emergency Response Team.
  • Supports Managers to ensure compliance with weekly and annual work plans, and work flow process, in consultation with short term planning personnel.
  • Assists with updates to the Annual Work Plan and provides information to the corporate planning group.
  • Assists Managers in the tracking and manages progress of the Annual Work Plan.
  • Monitors maintenance execution productivity and effectiveness, and reports on work execution metrics.
  • Working with the Senior Manager- HVDC Transmission, investigates equipment problems, communicates details to the appropriate personnel, identifies trends and makes recommendations for mediation, replacement or upgrade.
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of reports on monthly activities, safety and environmental statistics, equipment performance, and equipment outages.
  • Ensures that, within the Annual Work Plan, items are identified that pertain to Safety, Environment, Winter Readiness and that the appropriate focus and priority is placed on these items within the plan.
­Qualifications:

Graduate from a recognized university with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Technology, or an equivalent level of technical education combined with demonstrated technical knowledge and experience. For engineers registration with PEGNL is mandatory. Ten (10) years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in the area of large-scale facilities and project management, including field-level supervisory experience ideally in a union environment. Shall have a high degree of demonstrated technical knowledge for the assets assigned. Five (5) + years’ experience in managing, planning and scheduling work.
