Senior Supervisor, Technical Operations

Location: Soldier’s Pond

Responsibilities:
­
Reporting to the Manager, Operations & Work Execution, you will have responsibility for the hiring, supervision, training and management of the Technical Operators, ensuring the safe, reliable operation and minor maintenance of the Synchronous Condensers and Converter stations located at the Soldiers Pond and Muskrat Falls sites. You will manage leave and staffing complement; ensure shift log reports are completed, and proper response provided to alarms. You will support and engage in troubleshooting and management of gas requirements at the synchronous condenser plant at Soldiers Pond. You will ensure that all Operators know the Operating Procedures, Operating Instructions, Isolation Procedures, and Work Protection Code, and you will administer the Collective Agreement as it pertains to your reports.

You will develop, implement, and measure a comprehensive equipment monitoring program to ensure a reliable and efficient operation, and a comprehensive training program is developed and implemented for operators. You will strive to ensure assets are operated such that Controllable Losses are minimized, and the equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner. You will ensure that the fire systems are monitored and tested as required by regulatory agencies and the Corporation’s Fire Insurance Company is notified of any system impairments. You will be required at minimum to spend 1 out of every 6 weeks at the Muskrat Falls Site, located outside Goose Bay, Labrador.

Job Requirements:

You have completed a three (3) year Electrical or Mechanical Technology program, or an equivalent level of technical education combined with demonstrated technical knowledge and experience.­­ You have 10 years’ experience working in an industrial environment with shift operation experience, and must possess an appropriate valid driver’s license. You have proven experience as an interactive team member with the ability to motivate people. You possess a good working knowledge of computers with appropriate awareness of various corporate applications as necessary. These may include, but are not limited to, the Microsoft Office suite of applications, JD Edwards, Showcase Strategy, computerized inventory, and maintenance programs.
