Instructional Resource Teacher (Temporary, 50%)­

Eric G. Lambert School is a K-12 private school of 149 students and 19 teaching units.­ It is operated by NL Hydro – Churchill Falls and follows the prescribed curriculum of the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education. Our school has a permanent full-time Special Education (Instructional Resource) teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, and we are looking to supplement by adding this 50% position. The successful candidate will work closely with our administrative team and Guidance Counsellor to assist in the individual education planning process (development of alternate programs), delivery of alternate programs, as well as be directly involved with the RTL process. This IRT will work with our entire school staff to make sure the necessary programs and supports are in place to ensure success.

Key Responsibilities:

­
  • Promote and adhere to the Corporation's Safety and Health Program and perform work in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Work with students who present a wide range of developmental needs, including intellectual, physical, and social-emotional needs.
  • Apply the Standards of Practice for Instructional Resource Teachers and the principles of special education to support diverse student learning needs.
  • Plan, deliver, and adapt inclusive, responsive instruction to meet students' individual strengths and learning needs.
  • Use a variety of assessment strategies to monitor student progress and inform instructional planning.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement, independence, and student success.
  • Build collaborative, professional relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the broader school community.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional learning and reflective practice to enhance student outcomes.

What You’ll Need:
­
  • Bachelor of Special Education or equivalent from a recognized university OR Bachelor of Education from a recognized university supplemented by experience as an IRT as well as a valid Newfoundland & Labrador Teaching Certificate (Minimum Certificate V).­
  • Experience in a similar role or prior involvement as part of or leading Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and TRL would be definite assets.­
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
