Eric G. Lambert School (EGLS) is a K-12 private school located in the community of Churchill Falls, NL. It is operated by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro – Churchill Falls and follows the prescribed curriculum of the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion a “students first” philosophy in all aspects of leadership and decision-making;
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for school improvement, student success, and community engagement;
- Foster a culture of collaboration with staff and open communication with parents;
- Promote high standards of teaching, learning, achievement, and student behaviour;
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with students, staff, families, and stakeholders;
- Lead the development of a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment;
- Encourage a culture of shared leadership and collaborative decision-making;
- Support both student well-being (academic, social, emotional) and staff well-being and work-life balance;
- Advance equity, diversity, and inclusion, recognizing and celebrating individual differences;
- Use data-informed decision-making to guide instructional and administrative practices.
You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the Corporation’s Safety and Health Program. You will also be responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.

- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, staff, families, and stakeholders;
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams;
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Effective time management and organizational skills;
- A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and student well-being;
- A leader who fosters a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
What You’ll Need:
- Valid Newfoundland and Labrador Teaching Certificate (or eligibility to obtain);
- Master’s degree (preference for Educational Leadership);
- Previous Experience as a School Principal (strong asset);
- Experience in a K–12 school environment;
- Strong knowledge of current pedagogy and instructional best practices;
- Proven ability to provide instructional leadership and improve student outcomes;
- Experience using data to inform decisions and drive improvement;
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Churchill Falls is a company-owned town supporting the Churchill Falls Generating Station, one of the largest underground hydroelectric plants in the world. Relocation to Churchill Falls will be required. Relocation expenses and subsidized living accommodations are provided to the successful candidate.
