Driver Groundworker

Location: Happy Valley – Goose Bay
You will assist the line crews in carrying out maintenance and construction on energized and de-energized transmission and distribution lines. You will perform duties such as: pulling conductor, hoisting and lowering tools, equipment and materials and framing and erecting poles. You will operate line trucks, off-road tracked equipment, backhoes, aerial lifting devices and similar equipment. You will clear brush as required. You may be required to take hold-off’s for cutting danger trees and guy tensioning. You may be required to operate compressors, jackhammers and perform blasting operations. You must perform pre-use equipment inspections, prepare vehicle reports and ensure such equipment is maintained in good working order. You will perform field repairs and normal routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment. You will perform all other duties related to or associated with this classification.
You are responsible for your own personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the Corporation's Safety and Health Program. You are responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.
High school graduation supplemented by successful completion of a nine (9) month pre-employment course in the electrical field, two (2) years experience in line construction/maintenance and in the operation and maintenance of heavy-duty trucks and off-road tracked equipment. Must possess a class 3 driver’s license including air brake endorsement. Shall have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules.
