Mechanical Maintenance A – Heavy Duty Repair

Location:­ Bishop’s Falls
­
You will be responsible to repair, overhaul and maintain heavy equipment such as tractors, graders, loaders, heavy trucks, aerial devices, radial boom derricks, material handling aerial devices, diesel powered motor vehicles and tracked vehicles. You will also perform preventive or corrective maintenance on light duty vehicles and equipment including cars, pick-ups vans, snow machines, ATV’s, gasoline/diesel powered tools, or diesel generators.­ You will be required to use diagnostic tools to diagnose electrical and mechanical problems on machines with electrical/electronic equipment and perform welding and acetylene functions, as well as all other duties related to or associated with this classification.

You are responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the company's Safety and Health Program and responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.

You possess high school graduation supplemented by journeyperson graduation as a heavy duty repair mechanic and experience in acetylene and arc welding.­ Proficiency in aerial device maintenance in the utility industry is an asset. You shall have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules. Completion of training in WHIMS, Emergency First Aid, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Environmental Awareness and Confined Space Entry would be an asset. You must possess an appropriate valid driver’s license.

Mandatory Vaccination Policy
On October 15, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced the details of the mandatory vaccination policy that applies to public service employees including those in Crown Corporations such as NL Hydro.
­
Under the new policy, all provincial government employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or have an approved medical exemption by December 17, 2021. A person is considered fully vaccinated when two weeks has passed since their second vaccination (or first in the case of one-dose vaccines).
­
Failing to comply with this requirement (including requested but not approved policy exemption) will result in the job offer being revoked.
