Financial Analyst (Term)

We have a need for a high energy individual with strong technical and analytical skills to join our Hydro finance team. The ideal candidate is expected to possess strong communication and interpersonal skills complemented by the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
The Hydro Finance department encompasses three primary areas, Planning and Treasury; Regulatory Finance and Commercial Compliance and Accounting and Reporting. As a key member of the Hydro finance team, you will be responsible for providing analytical support in these areas and will be responsible for completing analysis in support of regulatory filings and proceedings, the quarterly and annual external financial statements and notes and supporting schedules and may assist in the research and documentation of accounting issues. You will work with the finance team in the preparation of monthly financial reporting and detailed analysis to support management and regulatory requirements and information needed for reporting both financial and non-financial metrics. You will also be a key resource to complete accounting and finance projects in support of continuous improvement including internal control, risk, and other objectives and goals of the Hydro Finance department. The incumbent is expected to exercise a significant level of initiative in planning and organizing work, strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work on a broad range of projects and activities.
Qualifications:
- A University Degree supplemented with a professional accounting designation, or equivalent relevant experience;
- A minimum of 5 years experience in financial analysis and or reporting;
- Excellent analytical skills and problem solving abilities;
- Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent written and oral communications skills;
- Proficient at Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and Power Point);
- Experience working with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and Business Intelligence software systems would be beneficial;
- General knowledge of the hydro electric utility or other capital intensive industry would be considered an asset.
