Senior Financial Analyst

Our Finance team is currently seeking a high energy, results oriented individual with strong technical and analytical skills to join our Financial Reporting team. The Senior Financial Analyst will provide high quality reporting on a timely basis for the Finance function as well as the Audit Committee, Board and Leadership team.
­
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for the preparation of consolidated annual and quarterly external financial statements, preparation of the annual and quarterly Management Discussion & Analysis, preparation and review of monthly internal reporting, financial analysis of results and the preparation of reliable information to meet stakeholder needs. You will also assess the on-going financial reporting process to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency and be responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement in the finance function.
­
You will be expected to exhibit strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to analyze and synthesize information. The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of assigned functions to meet, or exceed established deadlines and have the ability to apply their understanding of Hydro’s various lines of business in order to validate results. These skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands and strong attention to detail are key success factors for this role.

Qualifications:
­
  • Highly organized and deadline driven, committed to delivering results
  • Practical experience in financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and experience with preparation of IFRS compliant financial statements
  • A University Degree in business supplemented with a professional accounting designation (CPA,CA,CGA,CMA) or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three to five years progressively responsible experience in financial reporting including experience in the preparation of financial statements and appropriate working papers
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving ability
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Internal or external audit experience would be considered an asset
  • General knowledge of regulated utility, oil and gas, energy markets, or capital intensive industry would be considered an asset
