Supervisor – Outside Maintenance

Responsibilities:
In this role you will provide direct supervision to a combined crew of Industrial Electricians, Millwrights, Machinists and Welders for the maintenance of various facilities outside the underground powerhouse which include the switchyard, various support buildings and the Airport. ­You will plan, organize, control and direct the activities of the outside maintenance department in conjunction with the Manager, Work Execution, Lines & Stations, for the repairs to station equipment in emergency situations. You will complete all other duties as assigned.

You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the Corporation’s Safety and Health Program.­ You will also be responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.

Job Requirements:
You will have graduated High School graduation supplemented by Journeyman Certificate as an Industrial Mechanic, Millwright, Machinist, Welder or Industrial Electrician and have a minimum of five (5) years experience at the Journeyperson level in Switchyard maintenance. Previous supervisory experience as well as working knowledge of alternate trades, infrared­ thermography, and computerized power factor & circuit breaker timing testing, airfield lighting maintenance, computer systems, cranes, hoists, rigging, high pressure air and substation equipment (including high voltage switching) would be considered an asset in this position. You must also hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.­­ An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be considered.

Mandatory Vaccination Policy
On October 15, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced the details of the mandatory vaccination policy that applies to public service employees including those in Crown Corporations such as NL Hydro.
­
Under the new policy, all provincial government employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or have an approved medical exemption by December 17, 2021. A person is considered fully vaccinated when two weeks has passed since their second vaccination (or first in the case of one-dose vaccines).
­
Failing to comply with this requirement (including requested but not approved policy exemption) will result in the job offer being revoked.
