Senior Manager, Electrical Engineering

The Engineering Services Division is focused on providing quality project management, engineering design services, and engineering support within Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro. ­Our long term Asset Management Plan includes an ambitious capital program to rebuild, renew, and replace portions of our installed asset base.
­
We are currently offering a challenging and exciting opportunity to provide leadership in the completion of activities related to electrical engineering design and operational support.­ Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering Services you will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise to a diverse team of engineering and technical professionals in electrical engineering design, project management and operational support across NL Hydro’s Power Generation, Transmission, Terminal Station and Distribution infrastructure.
­
You will work in an environment which has a high degree of autonomy and values initiative, sound judgement and innovation for both technical and managerial activities plus the ability to grow individual and team abilities and performance. This position will require, in consultation with asset management and operations personnel, recommending improvements to the operation of assets through capital projects, operating projects, and maintenance activities.­ You will also ensure appropriate technical standards are used and, where necessary, developed, for the safe and efficient operation of assets.
­
Job Requirements:
­
You have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and are, or eligible to be, a registered member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) with a minimum of fifteen years of multidisciplinary engineering experience.
­
This is a senior engineering management position in a highly technical field.­ You must have experience in power utility electrical design, project management, construction, administration, operation and maintenance as well as in leading and coaching technical personnel. You must exhibit the capability to effectively assess situations, build and execute solutions; easily build working relationships; be a competent team builder and coach; have strong technical strategic thinking and technical problem solving skills, proficient­ written and oral communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills.­ You will have a holistic style of leadership which reflects and advocates corporate culture and values and departmental objectives.
­
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.­ You must possess a valid driver license.
