Rates and Regulatory Analyst

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is seeking an individual to join the Rates & Regulatory Team. Hydro’s Rates & Regulatory group plays a key role in determining electricity rates for Hydro’s customers, filing and support of General Rate Applications, and other applications to the Public Utilities Board, among other responsibilities.

As a Rates & Regulatory Analyst you will be responsible for and assist in carrying out key group responsibilities which include preparing cost of service studies, rate design, revenue billing and forecasting, monthly/quarterly financial analysis, Rate Stabilization Plan calculations, and rate hearing support. Many projects lack precedence and require imagination within the bounds of a solid technical background in order to develop sound, timely and accurate recommendations. You must be flexible in your work approach to accommodate change in priorities resulting from the management of several projects simultaneously.

You are a self-starter who is thorough, able to work closely with professionals of various disciplines, and is capable of initiating and completing projects with little direction. You have the ability to communicate information in a concise and precise manner, have strong interpersonal skills, and are able to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the company. You are able to respond quickly and accurately in time-constrained situations.

You have a professional accounting designation or degree in business, or an engineering background with at least 5 years work experience in the area of rate and financial analysis and/or technical systems preferably in the utility rate and regulatory field. A strong background in numerical analysis and critical writing skills would both be considered assets.
