Transmission Project Engineer Competition #: NLH-13-058 Location: St. John’s Nalcor Energy is offering a challenging and exciting opportunity to join our team. The Project Execution and Technical Services Division is focused on providing quality project management , engineering design services ,and engineering support to the five lines of business within Nalcor Energy. Our long term Asset management Plan includes an ambitious capital program to rebuild, renew and replace portions of our installed asset base. One important component of the program involves the replacement, renewal and addition of transmission line assets. We currently have an opening in the Transmission and Distribution Engineering Department for an experienced Transmission Project Engineer. You will bring experience in the transmission design and project execution to the team, and contribute fully in project outcomes. You work equally well as a technical member of the team or guiding other members. Your technical skills and experience combined with excellent communication skills will allow you to make significant contributions to the project deliverables. Responsibilities: You will join a multi-discipline team working in a matrix organization to design and execute transmission related projects. This position supports technical and project execution activities including: Safety first - pro-actively participates in a vibrant safety culture, taking the lead in ensuring their safety and the safety of others; All aspects of transmission design from the conceptual stage and pre-feasibility studies through to final feasibility, including budget, schedule and design; Detailed transmission design including cost estimates, routing, geotechnical evaluation, structure selection and sag and tension calculations; Preparation of project proposals (capital & operating); Preparation of engineering reports; Preparation of transmission line structure drawings; Preparation of transmission line plan and profile; Involvement in preparing project estimates, schedules, resource requirements; Provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of Hydro’s transmission systems; Project management Job Requirements: To excel in this position you will need to bring the following: Effective written and verbal communication skills; Ability to thrive as a participant and/or leader with a multi-discipline team of both internal and external resources; Relevant experience in the design, implementation and technical assessment of transmission line assets; Experience in the use of PLSCadd; Experience in preparing all aspects of project proposals; Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Civil) with 5 years experience preferably with an electric utility; Eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL); Project management experience or certification will be considered an asset; Experience working with MS Office CLOSING DATE: May 29, 2013
