Line Supervisor Competition #: NLH-13-020 Location: Bishop’s Falls You will be responsible to coordinate and direct the activities of line crews carrying out maintenance and repair work on existing lines, constructing line extensions and checking lines and associated equipment to identify and correct deficiencies. You will participate in planning and scheduling work, ensure that appropriate materials are available and that tools, trucks and other equipment is properly used and maintained. You will also be responsible to assist the Safety and Health Coordinator in implementing Safety and Health Elements in the Line Depots and work places. You will plan the activities of line crews to ensure that efficient and economic use of workers and materials and, when outages are necessary that they are of minimum duration and inconvenience to customers. You will provide direct supervision to line crews engaged in repair, maintenance and construction of distribution lines and transmission lines in a designated area and to ensure that all work is in accordance with T.R.O. engineering standards. You are responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the company's Safety and Health Program and will be responsible for environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner. You have graduated from High School and have either an appropriate three year Technology program or have obtained an appropriate Journeyperson certification, supplemented with five years experience as a utility line worker since attaining journeyperson status including some supervisory or lead hand experience. You must be able to plan, lead and organize in a fast paced work environment, and have strong oral and written communication skills. You have a good working knowledge of personal computers and the various software applications and have the willingness to adopt various corporate applications as necessary. Supervisory experience in a unionized work place with experience leading several disciplines would be considered an asset. Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered. You have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules and must possess and maintain an appropriate valid driver’s license. Travel will be required. CLOSING DATE: April 16, 2013
