Safety & Training Officer Competition #: NLH-12-099 Location: Bishop’s Falls You will provide input into the development and implementation of technical, safety, and supervisory related programs. You will be responsible for coordinating or instructing in the Safety and Health and Training Programs in the three Transmission and Rural Operation Regions and work in unison with the HR Specialist and Safety Specialist(s) to ensure compliance with corporate policies and programs. Finally, you will act as the Program Instructor/Leader in Safety/Technical/Supervisory Development Programs for the three TRO regions. You are responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the company's Safety and Health Program and for environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner. You have graduated from high school and have either graduated from an appropriate technology course or have attained an appropriate journeyperson status, preferably in the industrial trades associated with the electrical utility. You have a minimum of eight years progressively responsible experience, beyond attainment of educational requirements, including extensive experience in the electrical utility operation. You possess knowledge of maintenance programs and have some supervisory experience, with well developed skills in both oral and written communications. You must be proficient in computer programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc. You also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and work effectively in a team environment. You must possess and maintain an appropriate valid driver’s license. Additional assets you have may include: Trainer/Facilitator experience; Post Secondary Education certification; Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification or a willingness to work towards such designation.
